Profile
The Steps Coalition is composed of nonprofits, churches, and civic groups that unified a year after Hurricane Katrina in response to the overwhelming inequities in the recovery process for minority and low-income communities. The Steps Coalition is unified across ethnic, economic, geographic, religious, and issue backgrounds to promote an equitable recovery and healthy, just, and sustainable communities in South Mississippi. The Coalition’s Allies believe that creating livable communities hinges on a commitment to these 5 interconnected values: affordable housing, community preservation, economic and environmental justice, and human rights.
