MCJ's Washington DC Fundraiser Honors Congressman John Lewis

On June 7, 2007, Mississippi Center for Justice will honor Civil Rights leader, Congressman John Lewis, at its Washington fundraiser at the Women's National Democratic Club, 1526 New Hampshire Avenue, NW. Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson will keynote the recognition of Congressman Lewis.

The 2007 Mississippi on the Potomac Reception, a fundraiser for the Mississippi Center for Justice, is
scheduled for 6 – 9 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2007,at the Women’s National Democratic Club, 1526 New
Hampshire Ave. NW, Washington, DC. 

Congressman John Lewis,courageous veteran of the Civil Rights Movement and continuing model of
leadership in the U.S. Congress, will be the honoree.  Congressman Bennie G. Thompson will keynote our
recognition of Congressman Lewis for his contributions to the causes of racial justice and human rights.
We will bring our East Coast friends and supporters a first-hand account of Hurricane Katrina’s continuing
impact and our legal work to address it.  And we will recognize the DC-area partners who are our lifeline of
support in advancing racial and economic justice in Mississippi.
